James is an engaging and enthusiastic public speaker. He's delivered lectures and chaired events on the arts at institutions all over the world, including the National Gallery, British Museum, Royal Society, Kunsthal Rotterdam,  Minneapolis Institute of Arts, Flint Institute of Arts, Yale Center for British Art, Fitzwilliam Museum, Ashmolean Museum, Kettle's Yard, and the Stanley Spencer Gallery.
